Great food, great service, just right for what we needed. A quick lunch that wasn't heavy in Asheville! Would go back for sure! We had dumplings of course and they did not disappoint, and neither did the pineapple fried rice!

Sweet and sour soup was interesting with lots of mushrooms and tofu. The lunch specials have very fresh veggies. They make dumplings in an open area that you can watch. The lunch bento boxes for lunch are a good value. Service was a bit slow and they left dirty plates on table when we were done. Same on other tables.

Nice place for lunch. Had soup dumplings, they were a little soft and broke easily but were tasty. The Mongolian beef was really good and ingredients were obviously fresh, as was the Chicken and Broccoli. The service was painfully slow and had me debating if I should give 3 stars but food was too good.

It seems I'm bad. I always r e m e m b e r to take pictures a f t e r I've eaten. I love to travel and visit countries through their cuisine. When it is great I'm only interested and absorbed by my delicious adventure. Inevitably, as the bill arrives I cry, "Oh ______!" (Enter your preferred swear word in there.) Shanghai Dumpling Place, in downtown Asheville, is hands down (or chopsticks up) THE BEST Asian cuisine in town. Some of the others are ok - maybe for their speciality - but every aroma, every dish and every bite was absolute heaven. This is our second time here and we decided THIS is the only Asian restaurant we will go to in future foody adventures!
